Lots has been going on in the four weeks that we've been engaged (although you'd never know by my lack of diary entries). To sum it up, we've set the date (July 24, 2004), booked the place (a lovely tent reception at a resort on the water after a lovely quick ceremony on the beach) and I've ordered my dress, which will take about 6 months to arrive at the bridal shop.

In between there we went to some open houses and even put an offer on a great house that would need no work whatsoever and the offer was accepted. We had to withdraw, though, because they wanted like $20,000 right now and we don't have it. We need to put my condo on the market and make its sale contingent on us finding a house. The first Open House is next Sunday and I think we're going to ask something like two and a third times what I bought it for almost 5 years ago. We'll see.

Some of my friends still don't even know we're engaged. I'm totally overwhelmed by this everything all at once stuff but what can we do? We need to buy a house so the three of us (me, C and his daughter) can all live together comfortably but we weren't going to live together before we were at least engaged. It'll all work out and so far the worst part has been my waking up every night with my brain going a mile a minute. I really look forward to being able to see C more than just on weekends and maybe once during the week.

In other not-so-great news, his ex-wife has been the biggest bitch ever, starting exactly two days after we got engaged. She's trying to get their daughter to live with her (even though she has no room for her at the house and has said in the past that she couldn't handle having her live there), kept the boys from him on his assigned visitation days, and told C that he'll "pay." I guess she's not as cool with him moving on as we thought. There's more, but I'll leave it at that. Let's just say that this really, really happy time of my life has been marred a bit. I just feel bad that she's using her children as a pawn in her sick game. I don't plan to play nice-nice anymore.

My sister-in-law, who is pregnant with their second baby and due in Mid-January, is now on bedrest. She was hospitalized a couple of weeks ago due to complications (vomiting resulting in contractions) but she seems to be okay now. It's a day-by-day thing but the baby is bigger than average so even if she goes early, we hope all will be well. Keep your fingers crossed for us will, you?

My poor parents! They have all this stuff going on! Actually, aside from the scare about the baby, it really is all good, wonderful stuff. It's what life is all about, eh?
