2003-06-06 - 12:24 p.m. Ouch! I did the Corporate Challenge last night with my friend T and while I am surprisingly not sore all over, my left ankle is aching and I have a bit of a limp. It didn't hurt at all while we were running-walking-running but it started to hurt while I was on my way home and was a bit swollen when I took my shoe off (thankfully I had a bag of frozen broccoli in the freezer). It's just a flare-up from my many ankle sprains. The last one occurred in October 2001 and was the worst - I messed it up real good that time! Anyway, I'm all proud of myself because I finished and we didn't walk to whole time. Plus, I went to the gym at lunch yesterday, too so I can take today and the weekend off from working out (not that I could do anything, really, with this ankle). I've been meaning to do an entry about last Sunday's never ending debauchery. We took C's daughter and her friend to New Hampshire to see my brother's band and a few others. The line-up was kick ass and everyone was in a good, festive mood despite the suck ass weather. I drank more than I planned and even smoked a whole cigarette, mostly to irk C. I didn't even cough and it was pretty funny watching both my brother and C giving me the hairy eyeball. Thankfully, I have not had the urge for another and run out to buy myself a pack. I think I'd smoke a butt now and then if I was confident I wouldn't revert to my old habitual-smoker ways. We all left to head back to Massachusetts with the plan to meet at the bar of a local Chinese restaurant. More drinking ensued and we stayed out way later than I planned or liked for a Sunday night. Getting up for work on Monday morning was pure torture, let me tell you! One totally hysterical thing was that when we got home, I just needed to pass out. I have to insert that C and I, while not arguing, were being a bit snarky with each other...you know, that we've been drinking all day whiny/bitchy thing. Anyway, I quickly got ready for bed while C got something to eat. Since he was clanking around in the kitchen, I pushed the door closed, but didn't close it all the way, put the bedside lamp on, got into bed and passed the fuck out. Not too long after (I think) I was awakened by the phone and instinctually answered it. It was C. He wanted to know why the light was on. I was so confused, all I could say was "Where are you?" and the phone disconnected. I ran out into the living room to see C lying on my couch, cell phone in hand, covered in my 101 Dalmatians throw. Too cute, except I was so annoyed that he thought he was sleeping out there. He thought that by shutting the door, I was telling him I didn't want him to sleep in my bed but really wanted to say "good night" so he called instead of walking the few feet to the bedroom. Ahhh, drunken antics. I'm still laughing that he called me from the living room. This weekend will likely be a little calmer, I think. We're going to a matinee show at the Middle East Up to see a few bands tomorrow and then heading to a cook-out in Hyde Park, at my friend's cousin's house. Sunday we're hoping to do a picnic at a park by my place but who knows if the weather will cooperate? Today is gorgeous out! I totally wish I could take a walk. Stupid ankle.
