Things have been sucking lately but I am trying really hard to take it in stride. Now I know that the things I am about to say are not the end of the world and that things could be a lot worse. I guess it's just a "when it rains, it pours" situation - story of my life. C has been really awesome about trying to help me out and to be supportive and for that I am truly appreciative.

I woke up on Saturday morning at about 5:15 and it was freezing! No heat! After making a bunch of calls and leaving messages with a lot of places, people started calling back at about 9:30. Long story short, and $275 later, the heat was fixed and all was well. Cut to Monday afternoon. C and I were sitting on the couch watching the Bruins game and it seemed to be getting colder. I realized that while the heat was clicking on, no hot air was blowing out. Ugh. C messed around with it for a bit and it seemed to be working again. Seemed weird. Anyway, when I woke up yesterday, there was no heat and it was about 60 degrees in the condo. I went to work and called the guy who fixed the heater on Saturday and we arranged to meet back at my place in the afternoon. So, I left work early, missing an important meeting, only to arrive home to a warm toasty place with the heat blowing. Oh my God, I'm a moron. Well, when the guy came shortly after I got there, I opened the door, looked at him and said, "You're going to think I'm crazy." He explained that where I live (which is a peninsula) it's the end of the gas line so at times of high demand, we get gas last. Okay, so it's 10 degrees out before the wind chill factor and I get no heat? Hmmm, that seems like a great plan. At the time, though, the heat was on and I was assured that my heater was indeed working properly so I was satisfied. The heat stopped probably at about 5 yesterday and hasn't been on again since. Think I should call the Gas Company, just to be sure. This all seems a little fishy to me.

So, while I was not freezing this morning, it could have been a warmer start to the day. Then, there is a huge line to get into the T parking lot because only one of the toll booth things is open with 2 people in one (one working, one just standing there). So, there's only one line of traffic vs. the normal two. But, it's cold and there seems to only be one space heater so I try to relax about it. A train comes after I waited outside for about 5 minutes and then proceeds to stop 2 stops away and stand by, with the door open (cold!) for 23 minutes because of a disabled train up ahead. How do I know it was 23 minutes? The dorky-disgruntled guy sitting in front of me announced it to the whole train! Anyway, I think my feet are still frozen.

One last rant about my car. On Friday night on the way home from the train station, I noticed that my car was really loud. It still is but I am too lazy and pre-occupied with the heat situation to deal with it directly. Actually, I made an appointment to bring it in tomorrow to get fixed. That'll probably be a few more hundred dollars but at least I won't be totally embarrassed to drive around town!
